Wristband Battery

Tokyo-based gadget maker Thanko is at it again. This time, the USB specialists are giving us the Wristband Battery, which is what it sounds like and supposed to make life easier for fans of portable gadgets.

To be more precise, Thanko says the wristband, which houses a 1500mAh lithium-ion battery, can be used for the PSP, the Nintendo DS Lite (not the original DS), all iPods of the third generation or newer (not the iPhone), and a number of Japanese cell phones (buyers will get five different adapters). Thanko says their battery will power a DS (on the highest brightness setting) for up to 12 hours and a PSP for up to 4.5 hours.

POCKETRAK W24 and C24 Portable Recorders

Yamaha does not only make great motorbikes, they are also able to churn out audio devices and sound systems. Well, to add another gizmo to their list of achievements would be the Pocketrak W24 and C24 portable recorders, touted to produce great sound in a compact package. Both of these new convenient, reliable and unique portable recording devices were the result of deep thought and design, where those who laid their eyes (and hands, thereafter) on it were pleasantly surprised at how tiny and useful it was. The Pocketrak C24 and W24’s respective predecessors were the 2G and CX.

PUMA phone

PUMA and Sagem Wireless have come together in an unlikely alliance, offering what they call the PUMA phone which will arrive in selected markets come this April 2010. This unveiling was done at this year’s Mobile World Congress, where it is touted to be really different from all of the other handsets. At first glance, this looks like some sort of Neonode and HTC hybrid in terms of form factor, and on its back you find an eco-friendly feature that could very well catch on in future cellphone designs – a solar panel that allows you to juice up the PUMA phone everywhere you go as long as there is sufficient sunlight. Granted, this won’t be able to replace the power outlet, but it could provide just enough power for you to hold one more conversation during an emergency.

NVIDIA ION

NVIDIA ION 2 platform is making its way to the market in recently announced ASUS and Zotac computers. Companies will adopt different GPUs but most likely same Intel Atom D510 dual-core processor. The concepts are also going to be different. ASUS puts NVIDIA ION 2 into an all-in-one known as Eee Top ET2010PNT, while Zotac engineers, as we have it, call their creation MAG HD-ND01 and it's a PC, but probably something more nettop-like.

Graphics chips in Eee Top ET2010PNT and MAG HD-ND01, despite being different, are quite similar to each other, so after all graphics will not make a big difference in price. GeForce 210-powered Zotac will cost about 250 dollars. GeForce 310 and all the rest in ASUS' all-in-one should not add up more than 100 or so dollars to that.

The only issue that we should address to here is that ION 2 doesn't stack up with Intel's 1080p enabled Pine Trail very well. At least considering price. An all-in-one might easily get away with it, but I'm no so sure notebooks.

LG Crystal

LG are known for their original and creative phone ideas and the LG Crystal is another unique design. This is the first mobile to have a completely transparent keyboard. The phone, not being too dissimilar to the Samsung Tocco Ultra, consists of a touch screen user interface combined with a slide down keypad. The main difference from the Samsung though is that the crystal has a completely touch sensitive keypad as well. There are no separate keys with just a flat, see-through surface with numbers etched in.
